Windows 2008 Backup Tape

    View:
Majority of the current tape formats use the streaming drives. The data is read and written at a particular transfer speed. The performance of the tape drive is at its best when there is a reasonable match between the host and drive's data rate. If the data rates do not match, then the tape drive will stop its operation, and will have to start again to match with the data stream. This repositioning will continue until the input/output task is finished or the tape media is full. As the difference among the data rates increases, there will be more time loss as the tape will have to reposition itself. This repositioning and start-stop dramatically lowers the performance and efficiency.

The reliability of the tape drive will also be effected as there will be additional stress and wear on the tape path, media and motors of the tape drive. Some of the tape drives will lower their speed so that they can match with the speed of incoming data. Compression techniques are employed by most of the drives, as the data rate of tape drive is multiplied by the compressibility factor. When the effectiveness of the tape medium is considered, then it is important that the gap of the compressed data rate must be evaluated.

AIT, QIC, SDLT, DLT, DAT72, Travan, DTF, DAT-160, 8mm tape, DDS, LTO and Enterprise tapes at discounted prices are available at Tape4backup dot com.

The Sony AIT 5 tape drive delivers outstanding performance and results against the different data compression levels and scales mostly at hundred percent of its rated performance. So the throughput capability of AIT-5 should be 256 GB/hour, for avg. 3:1 data compressibility ratio. Input/output throughput capabilities of the most branch office and SMB servers to tape drive lies in between the range of 150 to 200 GB/hour.

AIT-5 tape technology's helical-scan technique results in lower tape tension and power consumption with increased packing density. Single pass recording is enabled by the rotating head/drum assembly which is incorporated in a compact mechanism. Sony AIT 5 technology is very space efficient and is ideal for large libraries that comprise of hundreds of cartridges and many tape drives. Powerful and Innovative features of AIT tape technology ideally position it for SMB server environment's archiving & data backup applications. Other large form enterprise tape formats cannot ideally match with rated speeds and data throughput of the SMB server environments, and these formats are more costly.

Fast data access and native 400 gigabytes capacity of Sony SDX5-400C AIT-5 makes it perfect tape solution for SMBs. The results and performance of Sony AIT5 tape are far more superior and consistent in the SMB applications in comparison to other enterprise storage formats. The users of AIT-5 tape technology have the advantage of lower ownership cost and user-friendly backup solution. Sony SDX5-400W tape technology is very adaptable and has higher storage density. Sony maintains its leadership in the SMB and enterprise environments with its enhanced and efficient AIT tape products. The compatible autoloaders, tape drives and libraries of cost effective Sony AIT family provide the luxury and facility to the enterprises to expand and enhance their backup storage medium's capabilities according to their needs.

Get special offers and life-time warranty on all data media tapes at Tape4backup dot com including AIT cleaning tape, Sony AIT3 SDX3-100W, HP AIT-1 tape, Sony AIT-5 tape media, Sony AIT-4 tape, Sony SDX4-200C tape and Sony SDX5-400C tape.
Windows 2008 Backup Tape
Extreme heatinside the tape drive can deteriorate the metal particle's magnetic properties. The metal particles are protected from extreme heat by the ?ceramic armor?technology used in the Maxell DDS tape cartridges. Ceramic armor preserves andprotects the metal particles and their magnetic properties. Head scanningusually high speed can damage the metal particles and for their protection, protective layer is used in Maxell DDS tape format that contributes inenhancement of its stability and toughness.

Initiallythere were problems of oxidation and issues related to prevention of DAT audiomedia of low grade to be utilized inadvertently for storing vital data files.  DAT cassettes (audio grade) physically supportand are compatible with media (DDS qualified). The prevention of customers touse media of inferior grade (to save money) for applications of data grade ledto the development of ?media recognition system? in the DDS tape format. Mediarecognition system embeds data tape leader's stripe sections which the tapedrive identifies as certified tape media for storage of digital data. Operationsof data writing will be enabled by the DDS media recognition system tape drivesthat identify the media of MRS. The DDS data tapes become read only without themedia recognition system stripes.

Improvementsand advancements have been made in metal particle formulation of Maxell DDSmedia in order to support high-recording densities. The size of the magneticparticles has been reduced as well as higher coercivity has been achieved indifferent advanced generations of Maxell DDS technology. The higher coercivity and reduction of size of the metal particles havecontributed to the increased recording capacity (40 times more). Evolving tapemedia of DDS from 2GB (first generation) products to the 6thgeneration DAT-160 (80GB) resulted from the consistent advancements informulation of MP, enhanced base film and thinner tape media. Data tapes oflonger length were used in DDS1 tape media for extending the capacity. Datatapes (60 meter) were used in DDS-1 tape format that had capacity of 1.3 GB. Afterwards90 meters tape was used to upgrade the capacity of DDS-1 to 2GB and no changeswere made to the recording technology and the tape formulation.

Capacity was doubledin the Maxell DDS-2 tape format (4GB). In Maxell DDS2, new formulation of MP+with more coercivity was introduced along with 120 meters of tape media. Tapewas to be made even thinner for reaching media of 120 meters. Therefore the thicknessof Maxell DDS2 media was lowered to 6.9'm and that of DDS1 was 90'm. Theevolution of the Maxell DDS-3 tape technology was a great jump in the DDS tapeformat's history with three times more capacity than the previous version ofDDS. 12GB capacity of Maxell DDS3 format was result of two improvements in keymedia. First improvement was MP+ formulation with higher version of coercivitythan DDS2 media and increase in the length of media to 125 meters. The linearbit density was also increased to 122 KB pi with the help of MP++ tape media. Therewas also made significant enhancement in the non media technology of MaxellDDS-3 technology. Its capacity was further increased by the channel readingtechnology of PRML (partial response maximum likelihood). That is why theMaxell DDS3 tape technology is more durable, enduring, resilient and efficient.
