Johnson gave up 9 hits to the first 15 batters he had, but the bullpen mostly blocked the Red Sox. Johnny Damon sat out to rest his sore foot, but his substitute Melky Cabrera, drove in four runs. Melky Cabrera was a Red Sox killer with two-run singles in four-run rallies in the second and fifth.



The Yankees chased Clement in the fifth; Terrence's single broke a 5-5 tie. Cabrera then singled home two more runs off Julián Tavárez. And even though, Catcher Jorge Posada did not played for the Yankees due to an injury, the team still won their second straight game despite two long homers by Manny Ramirez.
