A chaise lounge can help you take the edge off after a long, hard day at work, or after the many chores in the yard that appear to never get caught up on. It is a nice place to lay back with your feet up and, well, lounge. Chaise lounges are readily available in a magnitude of colors, styles and finishes, making it no task what so ever when trying to find one that comes closest to your own personality and style. Add the comfort ability given to you from this type of furniture, and this actually makes the chaise lounge one of the best purchases you could possibly make for your outdoor living space.
Chaise lounges are available in many different shapes, sizes, and colors to satisfy the preference of even the most meticulous of consumers. They are extremely comfortable and can often times add that extra touch of class to you entertaining area that you are definitely not going to get from your average made-for-the-beach folding, nylon, or soft plastic lounge chair. You, as well as your guests (if you allow them the privilege for more than a few seconds at a time), will enjoy your new chaise lounge throughout the warmer months. They are an excellent choice for all of your seating needs. You can keep one by your chimney to aide you in your comfort zone while you watch the wood burn and take away all the built up stresses gained during the day.
As mentioned earlier, chaise lounges are available in different finishes, like wood, whether broad boards, or in wicker style, plastic, and medal, although the chaise lounge is not limited to only these options. As far as the colors that are available, that will almost always depend on the manufacturer of the individual chaise lounge. Most manufacturers have a wide array of colors that they stock, and have, on hand in the stores, available for immediate purchase and enjoyment. For those with a little extra to spend, you might find a more appealing approach to receiving the chaise lounge you think is perfect for you by having one custom made for you, which I'm sure, can be done by custom furniture builders.
For those that have no shame in showing a sense of pride when owning an article of furniture that is guaranteed to turn heads and start conversations, the manufacturers of the chaise lounge are made to offer only one warning. Beware of the “emperor complex”, or more commonly known as the “Cleopatra complex”. More the latter, seeing that the women are sure to keep the men busy in order to get first dibs on this luxurious piece of furniture, and proceed to lounge like, well, royalty.
Chaise Lounge With Cushion
Among the most popular outdoor furniture in America is the chaise lounge. However, as with many of our favorite things, this lounge did not originate in our country. Well, actually, part of it did – the lounge part, that is. The correct name of the beloved patio chair upon which we lounge is chaise longue ('shAz-'lo[ng]), which translates literally from French as “long chair" – and you must admit, that’s a good name for it!Perhaps the fact that it is usually called a lounge, and commonly pronounced as “chase," is indicative of our pursuit of leisure. In any case, the chaise longue originated in 16th century France, as an elongated chair with four legs, and a slanted back for reclining. Although earlier versions of it, upon which royals, such as Cleopatra, relaxed, are known to have existed in ancient Greece and Egypt, the chaise longue differed, in that it was designed so that people could lie on their backs, rather than on their sides. In the beginning, the chaise longue was often made out of curved wood and woven caning, or rattan. As it evolved throughout Europe, naturally, there was much experimentation with the design, as well as the materials, as it was adapted for diverse surroundings and uses.It is believed that the chaise longue made its first appearance in this country somewhere around the 1830’s, amid the huge waves of immigrants that were coming ashore. Once again, it underwent a series of changes, especially after the dawn of the 20th century, when many new materials, such as plastic and tubular steel, became widely available. As it was mainly used indoors, the large variety of rich fabrics and upholstery materials also allowed endless incarnations of the chaise longue.Eventually – and inevitably – this country’s love of outdoor living led to the creation of the familiar chaise lounge that graces countless patios, porches, decks, gazebos, poolsides, and cruise ships, today. Although nobody really knows for sure the exact moment that it made the transition from being a “long chair" to a “lounge chair" (not to be confused – I hope – with a “lawn chair," although I wouldn’t be surprised…), today, it’s one of our favorite pieces of outdoor and patio furniture.Since something this special deserves an exceptional showcase, CedarStore.com offers a spectacular gallery of comfortable, attractive chaise lounges, with and without arms, in cedar, pine, teak, and polywood.
