Science is an organized attempt to explain the world around us, but it can be difficult to understand and perhaps a bit boring. The Miami Science Museum makes the world of science come alive, with informative exhibits and entertaining shows providing a great way for children and adults alike to learn about fun new things.
The exhibits at the Miami Science Museum cover fascinating topics ranging from dinosaurs to Isaac Newton. If you have even a passing interest in enormous reptiles, you will certainly enjoy the award-winning The Dinosaurs of China exhibit. With over 14 gigantic dinosaur skeletons assembled, the exhibit is truly jaw-dropping because it gives you a chance to witness the size of the long-extinct animals.
Immersion Theater is a whimsical exhibit that puts you in charge of sophisticated nano-robots in charge of exploring the inside of an infected astronaut's body and clearing it of harmful viruses. Touch-screen technology makes the exhibit highly interactive and informative as you navigate through human biology, learning about DNA, major organs, and cellular structures.
Get a glimpse of outer space at the fantastic Miami Planetarium or head to the Falcon Batchelor Bird of Prey center to learn more about rehabilitating birds that have been found by humans. There are plenty of shows and demos held all throughout the museum every day so there is always something interesting to see.
General admission is $20 for adults, $18.00 for seniors and students with identification, and $13.00 for children. Ticket prices include entrance to all museum galleries, planetarium shows, and the wildlife center. Members receive free admission, so if you plan to visit the Miami Science Museum often, membership is a good idea. The Miami Science Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The museum is located just north of Coconut Grove, across from Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.
