Formula 303 Muscle Relaxant

    View:
Defined as long standing pain that last beyond the normal recovery period or occurs along with a conditions like arthritis, chronic pain is a disorder that may be intermittent or continuous. It may affect people so much that it interferes with their work, diet, participation in physical activity, or life enjoyment. Chronic pain is a condition that requires an overall approach like a pain management and rehabilitation program. But most especially, chronic pain requires muscle relaxant medication.

Using prescription drugs to treat muscle pain is usually reserved for more severe cases like surgery or advanced arthritis. The use of an appropriate muscle relaxant and painkiller can be extremely effective in reducing movement and increasing the rate of recovery. Below are some tips on using muscle relaxant medications effectively:

1.Consult a primary care doctor or a specialist in musculo-skeletal pain disorders.

A primary care doctor or a specialist in treating chronic pain disorders can help patients assess and evaluate the severity of their condition. This way, spending far too much on ineffective treatments is averted and no time is wasted on taking medications that do not work. These experts can also help patients in determining whether prescription drug or over the counter medication is the better choice.

2.Ask if a muscle relaxant medication will be used alone.

Doctors will sometimes prescribed a muscle relaxant medication alone but they also approve the use of muscle relaxants with painkillers for severe cases. At this point, it is important for patients to inform their doctors about other medicines that they are currently taking and have taken in the past. Drugs interact with each other differently; while some interactions help treat a particular disorder, others can cause it to worsen. Informing doctors of all other medications can also prevent over-medication, a situation wherein patients take a number of different drugs that essentially work the same way.

3.Follow doctor's instructions religiously.

Getting treatment for chronic pain will be a futile exercise if a patient will not heed his doctor's instructions and prescriptions. Patients should take their muscle relaxant medication at the appropriate time intervals and at exactly the right dosage. The length of the treatment period should also be observed carefully since some painkillers and chronic pain medication can induce addiction and dependency.

4.Put off doing activities that require muscle coordination and keen concentration.

Activities like driving and operating huge equipment and machinery should be put off while undergoing muscle pain treatment. As relaxants, these drugs can cause minor lapses in muscle coordination and concentration which can result to unfortunate accidents. Nausea and dizziness are also common side effects of taking chronic pain medication, as well as general weakness.

5.Stick to a well-develop chronic pain treatment plan.

Putting one's eggs in one basket is never a good idea. This is the same way with chronic pain treatment. Recovery should not be dependent on muscle relaxant medication alone. With the supervision of a doctor or physical therapist, patients are expected to practice alternative forms of treatment like physical rehabilitation and hot and cold compresses.
Formula 303 Muscle Relaxant
Drug Name

Soma (Carisoprodol)

Drug Uses

Soma is a muscle relaxant used to relieve the pain and stiffness of muscle spasms and discomfort due to strain and sprain.

How Taken

The usual adult dosage of soma is one 350 mg tablet, three times daily and at bedtime. Usage in patients under age 12 is not recommended.
