Launched almost 10 years ago, Pro Activ Solution was created specifically for mild and moderate cases of acne. The product has a three step program intended to repair, heal, and treat skin. The company behind the acne products is Gunthy-Renker Corporation, a well-known company in direct response television.

Unlike other acne treatment products, Pro Activ Solution's three-step program is quite easy to understand and apply. The system consists of three steps: Renewing Cleanser, Revitilizing Toner, and Repairing Lotion. Upon ordering, customers are also given a free Refining Mask.

Ingredients

Though the three-step solution is claimed to be the best in the business, the Renewing Cleanser is made from a common ingredient used in can treatment: benozyl peroxide. Maybe the fact that Pro Activ Solutions uses “finely-milled” benozyl peroxide of 2% that sets it apart from others but that isn't really clear. However, the cleanser seems gentle enough that it doesn't produce lather. At the onset, this seems good but there are little results to speak for the product's efficacy. After a month of use, skin still has acne with little change.

The Revitalizing Toner isn't different from others, too. Like a lot of other toners, it is intended to remove dead skin cells and excess oil to effectively clear pores from possible clogging. However, this is how other toners work; what sets it apart is a bit unclear.

As with the other two, the Repairing Toner works like a regular moisturizer. The only thing that seems to set it apart is that the product is claimed to be a “miracle” moisturizer that removes acne.

Verdict

Though there are a lot of celebrities who swear by Pro Activ Solutions, the products, when analyzed, are the same as other acne treatment brands. The only thing that makes it different is its strong advertising and the number of Hollywood stars that have used it and claim it as a “miracle” treatment program. While the $40 price and the celebrity endorsement makes its public image strong, Pro Activ Solutions may be a product whose effects vary from one person to another.
