Sarah Michelle Gellar, who became the face of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was recently quoted in The Sun, a British newspaper, saying that growing up with ABC's All My Children kept her on track. As a child star, Gellar appeared on the daytime soap opera from 1993 to 1995. She said that growing up on the set of All My Children definitely guided and protected her from issues that forced people such as Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears have to deal with today, much to the public's chagrin.



Now a full-grown lady at 30 years of age, the actress won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actress in a Drama Series in 1995 for her role on All My Children. Gellar said that working as a young actress became a training ground for honing her discipline.

"You don't party when you're on a TV show," Gellar said. "You go to bed for ten hours and learn your lines. I never smoked and I didn't drink alcohol until I was 21."

In talking about the rise of numerous misled youth in the Hollywood scene, Gellar said to The Sun, "I don't understand the need to give in to excess and lead your life in public. It doesn't make sense to me. I look at all these kids getting fame and attention now and they're just not equipped to deal with success at such a young age."

On All My Children, Gellar played Kendall Hart Lang, the long-lost daughter of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci). She left the daytime drama in 1995, as she was surrounded by rumors that she had a conflict with Lucci. In 1997, Gellar landed the title role she is best known for on the television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also played lead on the horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer, alongside Freddie Prinze, Jr., whom she married in Mexico in 2002.
